This was written to be a donut commercial for Labatt so they could put information in the middle about the tours they were sponsoring and things.
It took 24 hours to shoot. It shouldn’t have, but we had to do a pass on a motion control rig with the strung guitar in place, then take off the strings and shoot it all again to be able to cut.
We were well aware that if we used real tuning tension on the strings it would shift the position of the neck when we took them off. We were prepared for that. But we weren’t prepared for the props guy bumping the guitar when he did take the strings off. We tried for awhile to shoot the second half and seeing if it could match up in post, but with the crazy ass short lenses we were using for distortion it just wouldn’t work. So we had to start all over again.
